Gov Makinde Seeks More Collaboration with US to Develop Oyo’s Economy




Governor ‘Seyi Makinde today received Principal officers of the United States Consulate, Lagos at his Agodi, Secretariat office and among other things, expressed his wish for a closer relationship and more frequent collaboration with the United States of America.

During the visit, the Governor told the consul members about the several opportunities that exist in Oyo State and urged the USA to partner up with the Oyo Government to their mutual benefit.

The governor said: “It is our pleasure to have you around and have the opportunity to sit down and rub minds together with you on so me issues. So, I like to take this opportunity to thank the U.S Government for the support they have been giving to Oyo State over the years.”

“Looking through our files, I saw that they have provided a lot of support in the past. For the RAAMP project, U. S is also contributing and assisting us. And I like to also thank you for your concern about the state of things in our country and in Oyo State in particular. Yes, we will continue to shout if we need help and other views regarding some of the challenges we are faced with.”

“In the world that we are living right now, with information all over the place, we can only seek to deepen the existing relationship and collaboration between us. We look forward to having you back here.”

“We really want to earn that right to have you thinking that rather than go to Lagos Beach, you can think of coming down to Ikere Gorge Dam or suspended Lake at Ago Awaye or come have a quiet weekend in Ibadan. So, those are the kind of things we are looking at over the next year.”

Some of the notable visitors from the US Consulate: Brandon Hudspeth (Political /Economic Chief and Acting Consul General), Mayowa Obilade (Economic Specialist) and Arnold Abulime (Political Specialist).
