Governor Makinde Approves Funds to Repatriate 55 Oyo Citizens Trafficked to Lebanon

The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has approved funds to repatriate 55 Oyo State citizens trafficked to Lebanon.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi, disclosed this in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, this Friday.

Mrs. Sarumi explained that the State Government had repatriated 25 Oyo State Citizens trafficked to other countries of the world while necessary machinery is in motion to repatriate about 55 Oyo Citizens trafficked to Lebanon.

The Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs
maintained that the State Government will go hard on human traffickers and anyone caught involved in human trafficking will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

She added that the State Government will begin a massive campaign against human trafficking and urged media houses to support the government in its quest to end human trafficking in the state.

You would recall that the State Government had set up a fundraising appeal through the office of the Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs to Governor Makinde to repatriate and rehabilitate trafficked victims.
