The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde today paid tribute to a past Oyo State military administrator, Col. Ahmed Usman.
The Governor described the death of the late Colonel Usman , who served as state MILAD from 1996 to 1998, as painful, praying to God to grant him eternal rest.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, Governor Makinde expressed his condolences to the family of the late Usman and to the Kogi State government and people.
He prayed to God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss of the former MILAD, whom he said had served Oyo State to the best of his ability and had also left an indelible mark on the state that could never be forgotten.
In the governor’s words : “With total submission to the will of the Almighty, I mourn the passage unto glory of Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd), who served our dear state as its military administrator between 1996 and 1998.
“In Col. Usman, Oyo State had an administrator who did his best and made indelible marks on the state despite the challenges he was faced with. His efforts and contributions to the state will continue to remain a reference point in the record of military administrators that governed Oyo State.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Oyo State, I commiserate with his family and the governor, government and people of Kogi State where he hailed from. It is my prayer that God will grant repose to his soul and grant all of us the fortitude to bear this loss.”
The governor rounded up his statement by adding that Usman would be fondly remembered for his efforts during the military era, especially when he saved the Oodua Group of Companies.
