Governor Makinde Welcomes Defecting ZLP Members Into PDP

The Governor of Oyo State, Eng. Seyi Makinde and the Chairman, Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Agboola, popularly known as Alleluyah, on Wednesday, received some loyalists of a former Governor of the State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja at the Government House in Ibadan.

The State Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Comrade Wole Abisoye, who also was the leader of the coalition political parties that midwifed the electoral victory of the governor in the 2019 election, led the defecting members to pledge their allegiance to Governor Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Meanwhile, Comrade Abisoye thanked Senator Agboola for facilitating their come back bid to the PDP, noting that he stayed away from the recent meeting of some leaders of ZLP which was spearheaded by the 2019 gubernatorial candidate of the ZLP, Chief Sharafadeen Alli.

He said since Lam Adesina’s day that he has left APC, PDP remains a better home for him to stay.

Abisoye, like other ZLP members, appealed for proper consideration of ZLP members ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election.

However, Senator Agboola assured that Governor Makinde’s best was yet to come, as he praised the governor for his giant strides in education, workers’ welfare, infrastructural development across the State, and the appointment of politicians across political divides.

He also admonished the defecting ZLP members of better times ahead in the PDP.

The Governor flanked by Senator Agboola and the State Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Bayo Lawal, said he was ready to accommodate all.

Makinde cleared air on the alleged non-fulfilment of the agreement reached with the coalition partners in the 2019 election, saying a number of the members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the ZLP have been integrated into the government.
