Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has conducted the distribution of palliatives in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Governor Makinde in the process of handing over the food items to people in Ibadan, toured the city starting from Oke-Ado, through to Foko, Agbeni, Oja’ba, Mapo, under both Ibadan Southwest and North local governments, respectively.
Speaking through his Executive adviser on Agri-business, Dr. Debo Akande, Governor Makinde maintained that the first phase of the palliative distribution has ended.
He further explained that 90 thousand poorest of the poor households have been reached so far and the distribution of palliatives to the 30 thousand households targeted for the second phase of the economic stimulus package will commence in due course.
He also disclosed hat aside from food items, seedlings and agricultural inputs will be distributed to ten thousand farmers across Oyo state to boost the state food security.
It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde flagged off the distribution of palliatives in Igboora, Ibarapa zone about two weeks ago to alleviate the suffering of the masses during the wake of Covid-19.
