Gunmen Strike Again in Ibarapa, Kidnap Man, Demand N7m Ransom



Some unidentified gunmen on Friday evening reportedly kidnapped one Fulani man; Amodu Shehu at Abule Oba in Ibarapa local government of Oyo state.

According to reports, the incident occurred at exactly 7 p.m. on Friday immediately after the said man returned from his farm.

Recounting the event to newsmen this morning, the victim’s father; Alhaji Umoru confirmed the sad event and said the kidnappers shot sporadically into the air in their village and they kidnapped his son and took him away adding that he is still struggling to come to terms with the surprising event.

Alhaji Umoru noted that the case has been reported to the DPO in charge of Ayete Ibarapa North and one of the local chiefs; Chief Odofin.

He said, “Police officers followed us to the village on Saturday morning and we both saw bullets of those people.”

Alhaji Umoru said, “the kidnappers called yesterday morning and they demanded N10 million as ransom before they can release my son. They later called back in the evening to reduce the ransom to N7 million.”
