House of Reps Calls for Immortalisation of Former Gov. Alao-Akala

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to honour the memory of the former Oyo state governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, by immortalising him.

The call followed the adoption of a motion of urgent importance to recognise and honour the late Alao-Akala moved by Hon Segun Odebunmi.

Moving the motion, the lawmaker insisted that Alao-Akala, while in office as deputy governor and governor, served and contributed immensely towards the growth, development, peace and sustainability of Oyo state and Nigeria.

It would be recalled that Chief Alao Akala died in his town, on 12th January 2022 at the age of 71.

Hon. Odebunmi further described his death as a national loss, adding that he would forever be missed.

He stressed that the late Akala deserved a national recognition for his relentless and selfless service to the country while he was alive.

Meanwhile, the House also urged that a delegation be sent to commiserate with the family, the people and the government of Oyo state.
