Ibadan-based Professional Boxer, Habeeb ‘Ige’ Oladeji is Dead

Habeeb Ige Oladeji, the talented Nigerian boxer known as “The Fire Heater,” has tragically passed away, Oyo Affairs reports. The 23-year-old boxer died on Friday, September 1, less than a month before his highly anticipated match against Tunde “Tuning Star” Olejede at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. The boxing event is organized by GOtv.

The news of Oladeji’s death was announced by Babatunde Saheed, a renowned sports analyst and broadcaster based in Ibadan, also known as Mr. Sport Role Model. Saheed shared the heartbreaking news on Saturday, September 2, expressing his sadness over the loss of the boxing champion.

“We lost another boxer in OYO state. Habeeb Oladeji (Ige) is dead @habeebthefireheater. I’m in a sad mood,” Saheed posted on his Instagram page.

Oladeji, who held the title of national bantamweight champion in Nigeria, had an impressive boxing record. According to Box Rec, a website dedicated to keeping updated records of professional and amateur boxers, he had participated in seven fights, with one loss and one draw (5-1-1).
