Tolani Alli, daughter of the former Secretary to the State Government of Oyo, Alhaji Ismail Olalekan, has clinched the prize for photography award of The Future Awards Africa 2019. Tolani was named the winner at the event which held on Sunday, November 24, at the Federal Palace Hotel, in Lagos. In 2017, she was also nominated for the award.
Tolani, who dumped her medical degree for photography, continue to change the narrative in documentary photography.
The Ibadan-born Tolani Alli was the former official photographer to former Oyo state Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the first to occupy such a role in Nigeria.

Her motivations for ‘composing images that document the special moments that occur in one’s lifetime while growing up, paved way for her as the new official photographer of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. “Tolani Alli continues to be a trailblazer and unapologetic in redefining what it means to be a global citizen.“
Her bold and visionary approach leaves little explanation as to why she was recently named in the top 30 of 100 of the most influential young Nigerians,” TFAA said in a tweet.
