A former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has slammed the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Teslim Folarin, for his comments on the Ibadan bus terminals noting that the terminals are better suited for hospitals, not libraries.

Chief Adelabu made this claim while featuring on a political interview on Fresh FM Ibadan on Saturday.

The Accord gubernatorial candidate noted that the bus terminals were not needed. Unlike Senator Teslim Folarin, who said that he would turn the terminals into hostels and libraries, they would be better used as hospitals.

He said, “Are we only in need of garages right now? Is it terminals that the residents of Oyo State need right now? We now have almost five garages after the garages constructed by Late Governor Ajimobi were abandoned.

“We have two at Iwo Road, one at Ojoo, and one at Challenge. There is no automated transport system at the terminals, just big houses. With an automated transport system, you don’t need buildings, you just need spaces. There are spaces at New Garage, why didn’t they utilise it? There is a space at Wema in  Iwo Road, why didn’t they go there? Why are we building more bus terminals?

“Even though someone came here and said that he would turn the bus terminals to hostels and libraries.

“Imagine hostels in the middle of a market! God save us with these kinds of politicians we have.

We are still complaining about someone, here is another even stupid person!

How would you say you would turn bus terminals to libraries and hostels? What schools are near those terminals that would make use of it as a hostel? How would you locate a library in such busy environment?

“It should be used as a hospital. The terminals are near the expressway, they are better suited for use as hospitals.”
