Indiscriminate Refuse Dumping: Oyo Govt Arrests 10 Persons, Seals 26 Places in Ibadan

As part of efforts to ensure cleanliness of Oyo state, the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources under the leadership of Hon. Abiodun has locked up 20 shops and 3 companies for non-compliance with Environmental Sanitation law.

Leading the enforcement team to the defaulters, Hon. Abiodun said the decision became necessary so as to serve as deterrent to others.

Some of the areas visited by the team include, New Garage, Tipper Garage, Taska, Kuola and other areas within Ibadan metropolis.

Hon. Abiodun reiterated that the enforcement exercise is necessary to check mate the activities of shop owners and companies in respect of compliance with Environmental Sanitation law, while urging citizens and residents to desist from disposing of refuse, on road median and patronise the licensed refuse contractors allocated to their respective areas.

“During the exercise, 20 shops, 3 Shopping Complex, 2 Companies and 1 Hotel around Kuola area along Akala express way were sealed off.

“The exercise will be a regular one, while the ministry of environment will continue in its name calling and shaming method aimed at ensuring cleanliness of environment”, he added.
