Jubilation in Oyo Civil Service as Makinde Approves Release Of 2017-2020 Promotion Letters

Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has authorized the distribution of promotion letters to qualified civil/public workers who are eligible for promotions for the years 2017 to 2020.

In a press statement, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Alh Kamoru Aderibigbe, stated that the promotions take effect nominally from January or July of each respective year for each of the considered eligible officers for the respective promotion years in accordance with the statutory promotion parameters, while the financial effective date of promotion shall begin from January or July of each respective year for each of the considered eligible officers for the respective promotion years.

Recall that, despite the current economic crisis, the Seth Makinde led administration of Oyo state-granted unprecedented approval for four consecutive promotion years. The promotions had been methodically vetted by the Civil Service Commission in consultation with competent Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the State government to ensure due diligence.

All officers who have been duly promoted will get their letters of promotion as soon as possible, he stated.

Even without Labour unrest, Chief Kamoru Abiodun Adérbigbé said that this is the first time in the State’s history that a sitting Governor will grant arrears of promotion owing by the previous administration in the face of diminishing resources.

Consequently, the labour leader urged all civil/public officials in the state to repay the Governor’s kindness by giving their all in the service of the state.

Finally, the Chairman thanked His Excellency, the Governor, for his dedication to improving the lives of employees, retirees, and, by extension, the entire people of Oyo State.
