Just in: Violence, gunshots at Oyo APC Primaries, residents scamper for safety

Residents and commuters along Molete, Idi Odo, Felele and Challenge areas of Ibadan were thrown into confusion on Friday evening, as violence erupted at the Genesis Hotel, Ibadan venue of the APC Congress Congress decide flgabearers for National Assembly seats.

APC thugs could be seen bearing dangerous weapons including knives and dane guns, as gunshots were fired sporadically.

Motorists and residents scampered for safety, cursing the opposition party for its desperate politics and penchant for violence.

Investigations showed that the APC Congress had not been able to agree on the way forward as of 7.51 p.m., with different groups resorting to violence and dangerous attacks.

Commuters coming from Molete were forced to take a u-turn at the St. Annes Roundabout or take a detour towards Children Home School/Anfaani.

It cannot be ascertained whether or not lives have been lost in the fracas, but residents who managed to beat the danger confirmed that the gunshots would, no doubt, have hit a few people.
