LG Elections: Makinde Gave Us Autonomous power, We’ll be Fair to All Political Parties – OYSIEC

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has reiterated its readiness to be thorough and fair to all participating political parties in the local government election scheduled to hold in the state on May 15, 2021.

OYSIEC chairman; Isiaka Olagunju, who was duly represented by OYSIEC commissioners; Mr. Emmanuel Olarenwaju and Mr. Afeez Adeniyi gave this assurance while speaking with members of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) which recently concluded its primaries for the forthcoming local government election in Oyo State.

The OYSIEC chairman commended Gov. Seyi Makinde forgiven the commission autonomous power to be independent with a view of promoting equality and non-partisanship.

“It is not possible for us to be biased. As we all know, the governor is empowered by law to constitute an electoral commission and Governor Seyi Makinde has not done beyond establishing the commission. It is an independent commission that is not under the control of the governor.

“So, I can assure you that we are keen on ensuring that all political parties are equally treated as we want them to participate fully and the Action Democratic Party has done that in ensuring that they conducted their primary election in a peaceful environment.”

Chairman, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Oyo State; Apostle Dare Ojo, while speaking at the event, vowed that the ADP was ready to participate in the election and ready to begin campaigns for the upcoming local government elections.

In his word: “We have met with the OYSIEC chairman and other commissioners, we have been assured of a credible and fair election.

“ADP is ready to take part in the election, we have done our primaries and OYSIEC is happy with the way we conducted ourselves.”
