LG Poll Ad-hoc Staff: OYSIEC Chairman Gives Reasons for Delay, Assures Payment of Dues

The Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OYSIEC ), Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, has revealed the commission’s readiness to pay all Ad-hoc staff who participated in the May 27 LG election in the state citing data inaccuracies as the cause of the delay in payment.

Aare Olagunju who said this in his Agodi Quarters office in Ibadan, attributed delay in the payment to flawed data supplied by majority of the Ad-hoc Staffs, which further elongated the verification process.

The OYSIEC boss also disclosed that the commission had emergency engagements in terms of personnel on election day, which made it difficult for the account department to rely largely on the master list for the payment.

He noted that payment schedule for the remaining local governments have been sent to designated banks for further necessary actions.

According to him:”There are cases of wrong account details provided by prospective beneficiaries, names, phone numbers, even numbers of personnel exceeding what we suppose to have. So, we have to scrutinize the data for excellent output.

“We are not going to owe any of our ad-hoc staff as payment is continuum. We have done our part, very soon, those who are yet to receive their allowance, will be credited by their financial institution.

“We are not selective in our payment. The process is just to ensure transparency and accountability.”
