Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has urged his appointees and elected office holders with political ambitions to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Makinde gave the directive on Thursday during an Iftar programme organized by the state government at the Banquet Hall.

Addressing those working with him who also have ambitions to contest for offices, the governor clarified his position and encouraged them to openly pursue their political goals within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“They now have my grace to mount their billboards and banners,” Makinde said.

“They don’t have to be loyal to Seyi Makinde, but to the people of Oyo State and the state’s development.”

He further emphasized that all political activities should remain within the PDP platform.

“They should put the PDP logo on their billboards and banners; we are going nowhere,” the governor added.

The development is expected to intensify political activities within the ruling PDP in Oyo State as potential aspirants begin consultations and preparations ahead of the next electoral cycle.
