The South-West Governors’ Forum has agreed to form a Joint Surveillance and Monitoring Team to enhance security coordination across the region. This decision was announced in a communiqué issued at the conclusion of the Forum’s meeting on Thursday, held at the Lagos State House in Ikeja.
The newly established team will focus on addressing the growing threats posed by groups such as ISWAP and other criminal organisations, whose activities have been undermining the peace and stability of the South-West. The governors emphasised that this initiative is a direct response to these emerging security challenges.
The meeting was hosted by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House. In attendance were the Governors of Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti States—Seyi Makinde, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji, respectively. Additionally, Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State were also present.
