The vice chairman of the Oyo State Tourism Board, has made tough statements about the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who are unhappy with the Government of Governor Seyi Makinde saying that PDP could only win back the State after series of trials because of the seasoned Engineer.
This statement came on the back of a vote of no confidence, passed on the Governor by Mulikat Adeola Akande, Nureni Akanbi, Gbolarumi Hazeem, Abdulrasheed Olopoeyan, Femi Babalola and other aggrieved members of PDP as they promised the Governor, no ticket for the Party’s Governorship candidacy, come 2023.
Oloko who blasted these aggrieved party men, said that, these big names in the state party, should be grateful to the sitting Governor as he came as a saviour to PDP in the State as most of the Stakeholders and notable names had earlier failed to kind this coveted position in the State.
According to him, ” I am utterly disappointed seeing the caliber of those asking Governor Seyi Makinde to leave the Party. If he leaves the party, he will be king wherever he goes. They should be grateful the man came to rescue them”.
Furthermore, he said, “For many years, these people had no formidable candidate to win the Governorship poll. It was even when Engr. Seyi Makinde came, that they smiled. Apart from being a sellable product, he almost financed his election solely.
“Most of these people cannot win elections where they came from. Didn’t the current Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi defeat Hon. Mulikat Akande in the 2015 polls? Which election has any of these people won before. They should allow this man continue to give the masses what they voted for “.
He added that ” They should rather let those who are already settling the matter for them do. Governor Seyi Makinde has always reassured them. You cannot force your will on people. Let’s agree they worked for the Governor, other people also worked for his emergence. It is just two years into the administration. There are many positions yet to be filled.
Oloko stressed that the masses are stronger than the wishes of a few so called ‘elites’ who want the Governor to dip his hands into the State’s treasury for their individual gains.
He retorted that ” They should rather embrace reconciliation before it is too late. There are still many things to benefit from the government. They should not lead the people of the State astray. Governor Seyi Makinde that I know will not forget anybody”.
