Gunmen on Friday night at about 9:50pm attacked the Abolongo federal correctional facility in Oyo town, freeing several inmates at the centre.

In another report reaching us at Oyoaffairs, most of the escapees from the federal correctional centre have been arrested by the security operatives who swung into action after the incident.

Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Niran Alarape, who is the minority leader and also represents the Atiba constituency in Oyo State house of assembly also confirmed that effort is ongoing by the security operatives to recapture other inmates who escaped from the prison during the jailbreak.

In the unfortunate incident, an army officer, two Amotekun corp members paid the supreme price with their lives while trying to repel the attack on Abolongo Correctional Centre last night.

According to our source who pleaded anonymity, the unknown gunmen used explosives to gain access into the correctional facility before freeing inmates.
