Okeho Residents Seal off IBEDC Office Over Exorbitant Bills Despite Erratic Power Supply

It was an astonishing sight earlier today when the Indigenes of Okeho Community, Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State sealed off Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC branch office over alleged irregularity of electricity and exorbitant electricity bills.

The decision was said to have been taken on Tuesday by the community youths and other stakeholders sequel to epilepsy of electricity in the whole community.

A stakeholder who spoke on the condition of anonymity stressed that the officials of IBEDC in the community have been playing upon the intelligence of indigenes and entire dwellers in all metropolises which make up the local council.

He maintained that the community had been in total blackout for the past eleven days, adding that they restored electricity on Monday and immediately started distributing exorbitant bills to the people.

Another resident lamented that the poor reaction of IBEDC officials towards the stability of electricity in the community is condemnable.

He maintained that the sealing of the branch office would remain until further notice.

As at press time, no IBEDC official has responded to the development.
