Olubadan Stool: Ladoja’s Presence Doubtful as Olubadan-in-Council Meets Today

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council will today Monday meet at the expansive Olubadan Palace located at Oke-Aremo to declare Olubadan stool vacant and commence the process of nominating 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Meanwhile, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja’s availability at the meeting is uncertain. The former governor, the next in-line to mount the throne wasn’t around when Oba Owolabi Olakulehin transited and has not returned to Ibadan even after the completion of the 21-day mourning to honour late Oba Olakulehin.

The notice of the meeting was sent out last week Thursday to all members of the Olubadan-in-Council, the decision-making body of the Palace according to report.

With the uniqueness of Ibadan traditional system, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja will be nominated, seconded by member of the Council as the next Olubadan.

After the conclusion of the process by the Olubadan-in-Council, the name of the nominee will be forwarded to the government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

Oba Amidu Ajibade, Ashipa Olubadan has been the one nominated by Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja to receive visitors to the Olubadan Palace since the demise of Oba Olakulehin.

For the first time in history, nomination of the next Olubadan will hold in the Oke-Aremo and Oba Ladoja will be the first to be nominated there.
