Ona-Ara Residents Call on Makinde to Ensure Asphalt Tarring of Olorunsogo-Tioya Road

The residents of Ona-Ara Local Government Area in Ibadan, Oyo State capital have called on the present administration led by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde to expedite action over the ongoing Olorunsogo-Akanran road dualisation.

The residents, who lauded the efforts of the Oyo State government since 2019 particularly on solid reconstruction of the Ogbere-Tioya Bridge in Ibadan as well as other infrastructural developments across the state, however lamented and expressed their displeasure over the lack of approval for the asphalt tarring of the road.

In the meantime, a resident of Ona-Ara Local Government area, Mr Bolaji Kumapayi in an interview on Tuesday evening shortly after the heavy downpour , described the lack of approval of Olorunsogo- Tioya Road as a doorway to discrediting efforts of the state government and Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project over the huge construction of Ogbere-Tioya Bridge.

Kumapayi added that the newly reconstructed Ogbere-Tioya Bridge will attract more volume of water, and therefore called for instant asphalt tarring of the bridge for easy passage of the motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.

He said, “Only an ingrate will not credit the administration of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, especially as he earmarked more funds for the reconstruction of Ogbere-Tioya Bridge which when visited a few minutes ago while it rained, discovered to be full of excessive water.

”We, the residents of Ona-Ara call the attention of the governor to this place as no tarring is yet to be fixed over the Bridge.

“Should we say this huge project should be washed away in no long distant time? Never! Governor Makinde, a true friend of the citizens, should approve complete asphalt tarring over and beyond the Bridge while dualisation of road from Olorunsogo extends further”, he said.
