Only Students Who Have Been Vaccinated Will be Given Accommodation Next Session – UI

In a bid to encourage more students to get vaccinated and curtail the spread of the pandemic on campus and in the country, the committee of hall wardens, University of Ibadan; in a meeting on 24th November 2021, decided that only vaccinated students should be admitted into the halls for accommodation next session.

This was disclosed in an internal memorandum read by our correspondent, dated November 25, 2021 and written by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. A. Abiona to the Vice Chancellor, titled “RE: VACCINATION OF STUDENTS AGAINST COVID-19”.

It was also gathered that the development was not unconnected with the recent poor response of the students to the vaccination exercise on campus.

According to the memo, the director of the University Health Services had informed that the executive secretary of NPACDA Oyo state, had ensured the release of sufficient doses of Covid-19 vaccines for the University of Ibadan students, in view of the health implications for the academic community.

Students (both on and off campus) have therefore been urged to get their doses of the vaccines in their respective designated halls while provision is still being made for Distance Learning Students.
