The Leadership of Oorelope Local Government Area has officially refuted widespread social media reports claiming that victims of the recent kidnapping incident in the area have regained their freedom.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, the local government described the circulating reports as “false and misleading.”
The Council clarified that, contrary to the misinformation, the victims remain in captivity, and official rescue operations are still ongoing.
“The kidnapped victims are yet to regain their freedom,” the statement read. “We urge members of the public to disregard any information suggesting otherwise unless it emanates from official and credible sources.”
The Chairman further noted that security agencies at both the state and local levels are working in close collaboration to secure the victims’ safe return. He emphasized that the government is deploying all necessary resources to ensure a successful resolution to the situation.
Hon. Ogundiran expressed his appreciation to security formations, community leaders, and concerned citizens for their ongoing support, intelligence, and prayers during this difficult time.
The Local Government concluded by appealing for calm and vigilance among residents, reiterating that the protection of lives and property remains the administration’s top priority.
The council promised that no effort would be spared until the victims are safely rescued and reunited with their families.
