Oyo Amotekun Recover Abandoned Ammunition, Other Exhibits along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Amotekun have discovered Four AK rifles, military camouflage, and about sixty rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition abandoned in a forest along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Commandant of the Amotekun corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju, Rtd., who made this known to reporters at the state headquarters in Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Monday, maintained that the soldiers of the command had been searching the state’s forests in various areas as a result of recent passenger kidnappings along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Olayanju claimed that last weekend’s efforts of his men were rewarded when the things were found in one of the woodlands following a tip that some gunmen had been spotted in one of the secret forests.

The boss of Amotekun indicated that security network agents were still present in the woodlands to apprehend the criminal elements.

Additionally, CP Fatai Owoseni, retired, special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on security matters, claimed that the governor had issued a directive to security personnel in the state to take proactive steps to stop the abduction epidemic there.

He said collaboration with local elements such as hunters and vigilantes assisted greatly in the recent success achieved by the agents in the state.

The Oyo state special adviser on security matters added that the state government would ensure that necessary equipment needed for the smooth operation of the corp be made available to enhance the optimal performance of the corp

Other items unrecovered were wraps of cannabis, a raincoat and two Nigerian Army caps and one beret
