Oyo Assembly Gives College of Education, Lanlate, Full Autonomy

 
The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the College of Education, Lanlate, Oyo State (Amendment) Bill, 2020 into law on Thursday, at the plenary,

The autonomy was granted to the College after the presentation of the report of the Committee on Education by its Chairman ,Hon Olufemi Oluwafowokanmi (Ibadan South West 1).

The bill, jointly sponsored by the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Muhammad Fadeyi , the Minority Leader, Hon Asimiyu Alarape and Hon Peter Ojedojun (Ibarapa North/Central) had part of its amendment has the changing of the institution’s nomenclature from Lanlate College of Education to Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin explained that with the passage of the bill, Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, could exercise independent control over its own activities, programmes, syllabus and curriculum.

Hon. Ogundoyin stated that the amendment would assist the College of Education to improve on learning, make more impacts in the Education sector and undertake activities without being under the control of another agency or body.

Others who co-sponsored the bill described its passage as a commendable feat.
