Oyo Assembly Sets to Consider Coronavirus Disease Emergency Regulation 2020

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has said the house is getting prepared to give speedy passage to the Oyo state Coronavirus Disease Emergency Regulation 2020 whenever the executive arm forwards it to the house.

The speaker stated this through the Oyo Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, this Thursday.

He added that the regulation tagged: Oyo state Coronavirus Disease Emergency Regulation 2020 when become functional would give legal backings to the Oyo state COVID-19 Task Force to ban social gatherings, enforce social distancing, and will also make the wearing of face mask in public compulsory.

Hon. Adebo who frowned at the nonchalant attitude of some residents of the state who do not take the directives of the Oyo state Task Force on COVID-19 seriously, pleaded with defaulters to have a rethink or face the consequence of their disobedience.

The speaker who called for strict adherence to the ongoing dusk to dawn curfew, charged security operatives not to infringe on fundamental human rights of individuals as they enforce compliance with the directives of the state COVID-19 Task Force.

In a similar vein, Officers of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) have impounded about 36 commercial trailers and other articulated vehicles during its routine operations and surveillance in the State.

OYRTMA Executive Chairman, Dr. Akin Fagbemi revealed that the operators of the trucks while passing through Oyo State to other parts of the country willfully boycotted the lock-down orders of neighboring States, using their trucks to convey a multitude of persons as against the approved carriage of food items, pharmaceutical products, and other essential goods.
