Oyo Fire Service Averts Inferno at Agbeni Market

The Oyo state fire service on Thursday averted an outbreak of fire that could have razed goods and property worth millions of naira at the Agbeni market in Ibadan.

The fire which broke out at about 12:00 PM from a building located in the heart of Agbeni Market was traced to a cooking fire result from an unattended pot that boiled dry and overheated.

The Director, Oyo State Fire Service,
Mr. Moshood Adewuyi, who confirmed the incident in a chat with Oyo Affairs correspondent, said that the fire brigade was swiftly mobilized to the scene immediately a distress call was made to his office and they were able to arrest the fire before it could spread to neighboring houses and shops.

Adewuyi urged residents to be careful with flammable tools and abide by all safety procedures.
