Oyo Govt Provides Educational Materials For Public Primary Schools

Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, (OyoSUBEB) has donated educational materials, students edition textbooks for the global SDG, ICT Materials and sporting facilities for public schools donated by Sustainable Development Goals.

Speaking at the presentation today at the Board’s car-park, the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Kunle Yusuf (MON), stated that Oyo SUBEB has greatly contributed to basic education in Nigeria. This is one of the reasons Oyo state is perceived as one of the beneficiaries of this charitable gesture.

The SSA on SDGs further encouraged teachers to include the books in school curriculum, so as to catch them young on the essence of 17 global goals of SDGs.

Yusuf noted that the materials will help pertinent and sustainable skills, with the use of recent instructional materials in public schools in Nigeria.

He further noted that the “talk-chalk method” of teaching has not been useful but with the use of proper teaching tools, learners’ interests will be stimulated.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran while thanking SDGs noted that Universal Basic Education programme guarantees a qualitative education that ensures acquisition of relevant and sustainable skills.
He further stated that the use of instructional materials will help provide variations in the ways of teaching, as well as increase the cognitive development of learners.

Adeniran said “the board will ensure the teaching/learning materials and sporting equipment reach the expected schools”.

He added that, “we will also ensure effective use of the materials by teachers and learners to enhance increased learning achievements and holistic development of learners”.
