Oyo Govt Seals 80 Shops in Sango for Dumping Refuse on the Road Median

The Oyo state government through its Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources earlier today, sealed more than 80 shops in popular Sango area in Ibadan, the state capital.

According to the Ministry, the shops were sealed because their owners were caught dumping waste on the road median.

Recall that the Ministry had earlier in January, arrested 10 persons and locked up 20 shops in different areas in the cities for non-compliance with environmental sanitation laws.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abiodun Oni reiterated that the enforcement exercise is necessary to check mate the activities of shop owners and companies, in respect of compliance with Environmental Sanitation law and urged citizens and residents to desist from disposing of refuse on road median, and patronise the licensed refuse contractors allocated to their respective areas.
