Oyo Govt to Begin Construction of Akufo, Eruwa Farm Estates in September

The Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde has announced that construction work on the Akufo and Eruwa Farm settlements will begin in September.

The Executive Advisor to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and Director-General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency, Dr Debo Akande explained that the pre-construction work and Environmental Impact Assessment of the two farm estates had been carried out.

Dr Akande stated that about fifteen proposals were received from private companies on the projects, and some of them that have passed through the pre-approval stage by Governor Seyi Makinde are being reviewed.

“Within the last couple of months, the first thing we have been able to do is to have the strategy of the agency in place to support the viable growth and development of the state. Beyond that, we have started the implementation of the strategy. We have six programmes now. The Oyo State Agribusiness Policy and Governance Programmes, Oyo State Agribusiness Empowerment Programme, Oyo State Agribusiness Education Development Programme, Oyo State Youth in Agribusiness Programme, Oyo State Regional Agribusiness Developments Programme and Oyo State Agribusiness Rural City Development Programme. We have commenced projects in almost three of them,” he said.

While speaking on the Oyo State Regional Agribusiness Development Programme, Dr Akande explained that the essential pre-construction work has been completed, the environmental impact assessment has been conducted and the energy survey of the place has been finalized.
