The Better Education Service Delivery For All (BESDA) project in Oyo State is set to be implemented in full by the Oyo State Government.
Speaking on the project in a meeting of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board and the BESDA implementation Committee, the chairman of the Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran said that the government is very determined to address all the issues that hinder the actualisation of the project plan.
Dr. Adeniran said the project was planned in reducing the rate of school dropouts among children in the state and with every hand on deck, the dream will be actualised.
The chairman revealed that the Seyi Makinde led government invests so much in the education sector of the state as 21% of the annual budget is dedicated to education in the state and this has encouraged teachers in the state to give their best in preparing students for their future challenges and endeavours.
He further promised that the project will be implemented with adequate supervision as the BESDA implementation committee is made up of seasoned academia and with the funds released for the project, it will be much easier to put things in place quicker than planned.
In his words “Members of this implementation team should commit themselves to the programme and there is no excuse for any member of this committee not to be committed to this project which is World Bank /UBEC assisted.
Responding to the charge by the state UBEC boss, the Senior Special Assistant on BESDA, Mr. Sunday Adeyanju and the State portfolio coordinator, World Bank projects Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo said the project will be given the full attention it deserves as they will ensure that the goals of the project will be achieved without any excuses for failure.
They also said that the committee aligns itself with the State Government’s plan to raise the quality of education in Oyo State and that they will ensure that school dropouts reduce in the state.
The Better Education Service Delivery For All (BESDA) is a brainchild of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and in Oyo State, it is aimed at addressing the issue of out-of-school children in the state.
