Oyo Guber: Tinubu’s Body Language Unsettles APC Camp

Doubts have ensued in the camp of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo State following what some stakeholders perceived as unfavourable body language of the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu towards the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin of the APC will be slugging it out with the incumbent Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde of PDP, ex–CBN Deputy Governor, Chief Adebayo Adelabu of Accord and others on the 11th of March for the governorship seat.

At the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Election, APC won 3 Senatorial and 8 House of Representative Seats, though some are being contested due to issues bothering on electoral frauds.

An inside source told our correspondent that the leadership of the APC in the state are not happy with what they called double standard and unfavourable disposition from Tinubu’s end to the party candidates.

“We have three senators and representatives but that may not translate to victory for us during the gubernatorial election, Tinubu needs to support us, and talk to people.

“We are quite aware that the president–elect’s body language is not in favour of the party candidates and some of the core Tinubu’s loyalist are not on the same page with Senator Folarin, some are pretending to be but deep down them they are either working for ‘Seyi Makinde or Bayo Adelabu”, the source stated.

In the meantime, Tinubu had during the campaign tour of the state visited Governor Makinde and described him as a diligent person who has worked brilliantly in the state.

Although the APC Presidential Campaign Council has said there was no agreement whatsoever between the president–elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, but some of the party stalwarts said ‘Seyi Makinde’s decision helped APC in the last election and same may not repeat itself in the coming election.

Another party stalwart said, the logistics for the election is yet to get to Ibadan and if it eventually does, it may not be given directly to the guber candidate and his team.

Recall that Tinubu had in June advised Teslim Folarin, to bring back aggrieved members of the party if he wants to win the election and till now he has not been able to emplace a genuine reconciliation as some of the party members who left the APC because of the internal crisis have moved to either Accord or PDP.

Similarly, Chief Adebayo Adelabu of Accord while featuring on a radio programme said he is closer to Tinubu than any other candidates and that February 25th results are not for APC but for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Yoruba race.
