Oyo Police Nab Two Suspects Over Killing of 62-Year-Old Woman in Ido LG

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 62-year-old woman in Ori-Apata Oderemi, Ido Local Government Area, Ibadan.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said in a statement on Friday that the suspects, Muhammed Sanusi, 42, and Ogbu James Ajah, 40, are in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department.

According to the police, the deceased was discovered lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut on her neck by a Good Samaritan along a bush path in the community. Preliminary findings indicate that the body had been at the location for about seven days before it was found.

The corpse was immediately taken to Adeoyo General Hospital morgue for autopsy and post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death.

The scene was sealed off while forensic teams gathered evidence to aid the investigation.

Ayanlade confirmed that the case has been formally transferred to the state CID for detailed investigation.

The suspects, both residents of Ori-Apata, are cooperating with detectives as efforts continue to identify other possible accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, visited the community alongside a high-powered delegation to assess the situation and console the bereaved family.

CP Haruna directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to coordinate patrols and maintain peace, while tactical teams were deployed to reassure residents and strengthen security across the area.

Residents were urged to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and provide credible information to assist police investigations.

The command pledged that all leads would be pursued to ensure justice is served.
