The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, led a delegation to the site of the Tuesday night explosion in the Adeyi area of old Bodija in Ibadan. The visit aimed to assess the extent of the explosion and gather information on its possible cause.
“We are here for on-the-spot assessment of the scene of Tuesday’s explosion. As lawmakers, we are saddened by the incident and we will like to express our condolences to those affected by the explosion,” said Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
During the visit, the Speaker appealed to the Federal Government and its emergency response agencies to provide support to the victims of the blast. He emphasized the need for assistance, stating, “Buildings have been reduced to rubbles, properties were lost to the explosion. Our people have lost their loved ones. The victims need all the support we could give them at this trying time.”
Additionally, the Speaker expressed the Oyo State House of Assembly’s commitment to collaborating with relevant agencies to implement necessary laws that promote environmental safety.
The delegation also paid a condolence visit to former deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bar. Iyiola Oladokun, and Hon. Comforter Olajide, both of whom suffered damage to their houses and properties due to the explosion. The Speaker offered heartfelt sympathies and prayers for their recovery.
The Speaker’s call for aid and intervention from the Federal Government highlights the urgent need for support in addressing the aftermath of the explosion in Ibadan.
