Oyo Speaker Mourns Former Lawmaker, Omo Sheu

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a former colleague, Hon. Abdul-Rasak Ademola Abdullahi, popularly known as Omo Sheu.

The former lawmaker, who represented Ibadan South East State Constituency I between 2019 and 2023, died on Sunday night after a prolonged illness linked to a kidney-related condition.

In a personal statement issued on Monday, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin described the late legislator as a compassionate leader, a loyal party man, and a vibrant contributor to the 9th Assembly.

“I received with great shock and sadness the news of the passing of my dear brother and former colleague, Hon. Abdul-Rasak Ademola Abdullahi, fondly known as Omo Sheu. His death is a painful loss not only to his immediate family and political associates but to all of us who had the privilege of serving with him in the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly.”

“He was a true grassroots politician who remained close to his people, constantly advocating for their needs and well-being. Omo Sheu’s dedication to public service, his humility, and the warmth he brought to our legislative family will be sorely missed,” the Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin extended condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ibadan South East Local Government, and the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and Nigeria.

He prayed for the repose of Hon. Omo Sheu’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his return, and grant him Aljanah Firdaus. We have lost a good man,” he added.
