National Arts and Culture Festival
The Oyo State Honourable Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun has maintained that the state’s contingent is well prepared to participate at the 2022 National Arts and Culture Festival in Lagos city.
Olatubosun who told newsmen that members of the State cultural Troupe, who are already settled in Lagos, had spent months preparing for the festival added that Oyo State will participate at NAFEST 2022 with the Theme: CULTURE AND PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE are, DANCE DRAMA (SENIOR CATEGORY).
Speaking on the DRAMA category, he said, “the story centres on a community that comprises of the three major ethnic groups and other minority groups where peace and love existed until the interference of a beast. The beast in the play represents vices like bad governance, corruption, disruption, embezzlement, kidnapping, tribalism, etc. Whenever the beast cries in the spirit realm, it bounces back on the once peaceful community and this throws into chaos and confuses the inhabitants of the community”.
“It takes the mediation of a spirit medium through its warnings and counsels to the community for the latter to overpower the beast through the unity and co-habitation”.
Olatubosun added that the State will also participate in the DANCE DRAMA (CHILDREN’s CATEGORY).
The Commissioner hinted that the State will actively participate in CHILDREN’S ARTS & CRAFT COMPETITION.
“There is no gainsaying that Oyo State is rich in Arts and Craft Designs. Our entry for NAFEST 2022 is a six-carved images of human hands, representing the six (6) Geo-political zones in the state. Situated at the middle of the hands are the NAFEST Gong and Nigeria’s Symbol of Unity”, he said.
Olatubosun said the State will equally participate in the ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION and AYO-OLOPON BOARD GAME.
He wished the contingent all the best, urging them to win prizes for Governor Seyi Makinde.
