Oyo State Youth Ministry Unveils New Game, TEQball




…Organizes Seminar for Coaches, Referees and Administrators of the game.


The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede, on Thursday launched TEQball; a new football game in a seminar for coaches and referees in Oyo State. TEQball is a kind of football game where the players use their heads, hands and legs to play the ball on a table, basically head table tennis.

The Commissioner was represented by the Director of Sports Administration, Mrs. Olubisi Adegoke at the unveiling of the TEQball training equipment at Liberty Stadium. During the event, the Director said that the innovation would enhance the creativity of youth and promote their productivity. She also hailed the innovation of the game and said that the officials and administrators need to be properly instructed, hence the training.


She also commended the Ministry management for adding the sporting innovation to the sports available in Oyo State and Nigeria and added that the State government will continue to recognize sports organizations in the state and make sure they complement this administration’s efforts I sports development. She further urged the Seminar participants to make the best use of the seminar training to acquire the relevant skills shared with them.



The Chairman of the newly-formed TEQball Association, Engineer Akinjobi Adewale said that the game was newly-introduced and had the features of both football and table tennis –two beloved sports in the state and country. He further stressed that the game has been introduced to develop youth sport in the state and plan for a contingent that will represent Oyo State and Nigeria at international level.
