Oyo’s IGR Increases by 40% in 6 months, Claims Top 10 Spot for the Second time in 10 years

Latest figures from the National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that the internally generated revenue, IGR of Oyo state increased to 41.7% in the first half of 2021.

The report which was released earlier today showed that Oyo recorded N25.2 billion between January and June, 2021.

Analysis of IGR recorded by other states in the first half of 2021 showed that Oyo state had the 3rd highest IGR in the Southwest and the 7th highest in Nigeria.

Lagos topped the table both in the Southwest and Nigeria with N267.2 billion generated and Ogun came second in the Southwest with N54.8 billion generated between January and June, 2021

A wider analysis of the data showed that the Southwest had recorded the highest IGR among other geopolitical zones with N385.4 billion, recorded in the first half of 2021.

Lagos topped the chart with an addition of N20.3 billion. The Federal Capital Territory was second place with an addition of N17.5 billion. Oyo state ranked third as it added N11.3 billion to Nigeria’s IGR in 2021.
