A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oorelope Local Government area, Alhaji Yusuf Sharafadeen Alani popularly known as Alwajud, has said that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde will win in Oorelope Local Government and in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Ifelodun Omo Igboho, an umbrella body for all socio-cultural societies, associations, clubs of Igboho extraction both home and abroad, earlier threw their weight behind the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, assuring him of their support even when he moved from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
They made this known when they paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor on Friday, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Members of the body who paid the visit were Mr Badmus Imran Oloyoyo, National President Ifelodun Omo Igboho; Mr Sekoni Jimoh, Vice President Ifelodun Omo Igboho; Balogun Suarau O., General secretary of Ifelodun Omo Igboho; Mr Oyewole Simeon, Treasurer Ifelodun Omo; Mr Adebunmi Abdulrasaq Omo Ayawo, Former Vice President Ifelodun Omo Igboho; Deacon Adepoju Solomon, Chairman, Ifelodun Jakuta And Prince Oyewole Imran – Chairman, Ifelodun Obaago.
While speaking, the Chairman, Mr Badmus Imran Oloyoyo said the purpose of the visit was to tell the Deputy Governor that they are behind him and in support of his decampment to the APC.
While responding, the Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan thanked Ifelodun Omo Igboho and promised to continue to be a good ambassador of the town.
Olaniyan said the visit and pledge of loyalty have put the speculations and rumours that he’s not relevant at home to an end.
Meanwhile, Alwajud while reacting to the declaration of support for the Deputy Governor said the Ifelodun Omo Igboho executives acted on their own, emphasising that sons and daughters of the town will support Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
He said this is on Saturday, in a telephone conversation with newsmen.
He added that all political parties have candidates, members and chieftains in Igboho. He berated the leadership of the association for identifying with the Deputy Governor and APC, while ignoring others.
He urged the leadership of the association to be apolitical for the interest of the town and its sons and daughters.
He said: “What the national leadership of Ifelodun Omo Igboho said is not the true stand of all sons and daughters. They acted on their own. Governor ‘Seyi Makinde will win in Oorelope Local Government and win Oyo governorship election in 2023.
“All political parties have candidates, members and chieftains in Igboho. I wonder why the national leadership of Ifelodun Omo Igboho will identify with one person and one political party. The association should stop being political for the interest of sons and daughters of Igboho and the development of the town”, he added.
