Petrol Tanker Summersaults, Catches Fire in Iseyin

A tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petroleum has summersaulted in Iseyin, in the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State.

The incident occurred at a farm, along Iseyin/Oyo Road in Iseyin, Monday morning.

It was learnt that the tanker with registration number LM62XP (Lagos) lost control while on motion, summersaulted to the nearby ditch and caught fire.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

Akinwande in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, noted that the incident was reported to the agency Monday morning.

He added that officers of the agency were moved to the scene immediately they were contacted.

Akinwande in the statement said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 10:46hrs on Monday 23rd June, 2025.

“Immediately the address was received, the firemen led by PFS1 Azeez swiftly deployed to the scene of the incident and on arrival, it was a trailer tanker registered no LM62XP (Lagos) loaded with 45,000litres capacity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost control whilst on motion and somersaulted to the nearby ditch and caught fire.

“The Firemen quickly swung into action and applied chemical foam compound and prevented it from explosion and curtailed it from affecting any nearby structure or vehicle.

“The fire was completely extinguished and normal vehicular movement restored back on the road”.
