Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that it is currently investigating a distressing case of attempted defilement involving a six-year-old girl in Ibadan.
Tis was revealed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka who released through a press release to Journalist on Sunday.
According to reports, the victim was allegedly coerced and indecently assaulted multiple times in December 2025 while hawking at Onikeke, Ayegun area, Ibadan.
The alleged perpetrator, 65-year-old Ibrahim Raheem, has been apprehended and has confessed to indecently abusing the child, though he denies engaging in carnal knowledge.

The victim has received comprehensive medical examination and socio-psychological care to address the trauma.
Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s specialized Gender Desk for a discreet and professional investigation.
The statement noted the state command is committed to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring perpetrators of such acts are brought to justice.
The Command encouraged the public to provide credible information to aid the Police in safeguarding lives and maintaining a secure environment.
