The Oyo state police command, this Thursday, paraded 22 suspected criminals, including the alleged notorious armed bandits terrorizing the Old Oyo park, Kishi, and Igbeti areas of the state.
The state commissioner of police, CP Joe Enwonwu, while parading the suspects at the Eleyele Police Headquarters, Ibadan, disclosed that all the suspected criminal elements were arrested within and outside the state.
He explained that, a sequel to the alarm raised by the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, that armed terrorists have occupied Kishi, located in North West of Oyo State, as well as the vast Old Oyo National Park, a development that made the police tactical teams in conjunction with local vigilantes and hunters combed the reserve forest in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state for three days and arrested three heavily armed notorious hoodlums with five AK-49 rifles and 83 live ammunition.
CP Enwonwu, further revealed that the police have successfully arrested two out of the five kidnappers who have been disturbing the peace of the people of the Eleyele/Ido area of the state.
According to the CP, one Sulaiman Sadu and Abdullahi Ibrahim were recently arrested in connection with a Kidnapping case that occurred on the 7th September 2020 at the Eleyele area of Ibadan while efforts are on to arrest other fleeing suspects.
Among the 22 suspected criminals paraded were armed robbers, fraudsters, and criminal receivers.
