The Oyo State Police Command has dismantled a human trafficking network in Ibadan, rescuing 83 adults and a child from a suspected hideout in the Orogun area.
Authorities revealed that the victims, reportedly nationals of the Democratic Republic of Congo, were deceived into traveling to Nigeria with false promises of employment. Investigators also uncovered allegations that the traffickers extorted large sums of money—mostly in U.S. dollars—from the victims’ families as part of the scheme.
The rescued individuals are currently under protective custody at the Oyo State Police Headquarters in Eleyele, where further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the operation and apprehend all involved suspects.
