Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saki West Local Government have on Tuesday staged a mass movement against the members that worked against the victory of their party candidates in the just concluded 2023 general election.
Speaking with newsmen, one of the protesters and party loyalists, Mr Mukaila Muideen, noted that the stakeholders were expressing their dissatisfaction over the double standards that many of the party’s leaders, including those who are representing the party at various scales of government at the local government level displayed during the election.
According to him, the anti-party activities exhibited by the so-called elders were so apparent that the majority of the members at their respective wards could testify to their anti-party activities.
He emphasised that the pronouncement on PDP candidates who lost the trio of seats—Senator, Federal Representative, and State Representative— to APC as a result of the serious effort put forward by the activities of the culprits, struck all party members with a severe blow to the head.
He said: “The party must now take the appropriate actions by disowning their membership in the party in order to maintain respect for our beloved party and the advancement of the PDP Party in Saki West.
“Party Elders have a history of preying on young people, and many of them have been exposed as participating in anti-party activities,” he added.
In the meantime, the demonstrators have urged Governor Makinde to support the punitive measures on behalf of the whole Saki West PDP family for the progress of the party in the local government.
Meanwhile, the protesters were seen with placards with various inscriptions such as ‘No more leaders with selfish interest’, ‘No more anti-party in PDP’, ‘No more oppression’, among others.
