Former lawmaker Shina Peller visited Sunday Adeyemo, also known as ‘Sunday Igboho’, in Cotonou, Benin Republic to express his condolences over the death of Igboho’s mother, Mama Sikirat Adeyemo. Mama Sikirat passed away on July 22, 2023.
During the visit, Peller described Mama’s passing as a painful and monumental loss. He encouraged Igboho to find solace in the fact that his mother lived a purposeful and fulfilled life. Peller also acknowledged the legacy Mama left behind, including her son, Sunday Igboho.
Peller prayed for strength for Igboho and his family members, asking for forgiveness for any shortcomings Mama may have had and for her eternal rest. He expressed his hope that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Sunday Igboho has been in exile since 2021 when the Department of State Security (DSS) raided his residence in Ibadan. He was subsequently arrested in Cotonou while attempting to travel to Germany. Igboho had gained attention for his advocacy for the Yoruba Nation’s sovereignty and his efforts to address security challenges in the South-West states.
There are concerns about whether Igboho will be allowed to give his late mother a proper burial, as her remains are still in the morgue. The question remains unanswered.
