Splash FM Bans Naira Marley Songs Amid Investigation into Mohbad’s Death

Splash FM, a prominent radio station chain in Ibadan, Nigeria, has implemented a ban on broadcasting songs by Naira Marley across all its stations. The decision comes as authorities begin investigating the mysterious death of musician Mohbad.

In an internal memo obtained by Oyo Affairs, the management of Splash FM cited the ongoing police inquiry into Mohbad’s death as the reason behind the ban.

The memo urged staff members to exercise discretion due to the sensitive nature of Mohbad’s death and the criminal investigation. It stated that Naira Marley’s songs are now classified as “Not to be Broadcast” on their stations until further notice, effective immediately.

Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, has been embroiled in controversy following Mohbad’s sudden and unexplained death. Mohbad was a former signee of Marlian Records, but the two artists had a falling out. While there is currently no evidence directly linking Naira Marley to Mohbad’s death, videos that surfaced after Mohbad’s passing have prompted calls for an investigation.
