Chief Niyi Akintola SAN, an ex-gubernatorial aspirant under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has proclaimed the doom of Oyo APC in the forth coming 2023 general elections, adding that Sen. Teslim Folarin will lose at the polls.
He further disclosed that the Ogbomoso-born Minister of Youth, Hon. Sunday Dare and Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State told him that APC will lose in Oyo State.
Akintola, a chieftain of the APC, stated this on Sunday when he was featured as a guest on Fresh FM’s ‘Political Circuit’ anchored by renowned broadcaster, Isaac Brown.
He added that it will be a sign of ungratefulness for any Oke-Ogun man to raise a hand against second term bid of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde
“The next election in Oyo State will be determined on personality not on party basis”, he affirmed.
Similarly, Akintola alleged that the duo of Sen. Omisore and Afikunyomi were not being transparent with the APC gubernatorial primary in the state which produced Sen. Teslim Folarin.
The legal luminary and foundation member of the progressives, who had also sought the ticket in 2018 but was asked to step down for Adebayo Adelabu, further stated that he will never have anything to do with the APC Guber aspirant, Senator Teslim Folarin.
When asked why he didn’t join the Omodewu caucus, he said: “No, I will not dignify that cabal with my presence. There should be a level to which a decent man should not descend, no matter what”.
Condemning the disjointed APC structure further, he stated that: “I can understand the plight of many of these guys. Many of them have done nothing to put something on the table on their own unlike us (himself, Elder Adeduntan and Adelabu), we are professionals in our careers. They don’t have any means of livelihood other than politics. They swallow every thing hook line and sinker. All sorts of rubbish. Those of us that belong to the level of Chief Bola Ige and Chief Awolowo, there’s a level to which we can descend”.
Talking about the faction he belongs to and the interest of his supporters, he said: “Politics is about interest and I’m not a dictator. We have passed the resolution and I’ve made my position known that I’m not leaving. My leader (Chief Bola Ige) never taught me that but I’m not going to swallow every nonsense hook, line and sinker. I will not…”
“In fact the first resolution we passed is that all of us will go out there to go and work for Asiwaju only. The second resolution is that no body should have anything to do with Jagba system. No member of our group will work for Teslim Folarin. It was written down and sent to Asiwaju himself”, he added.
