Three Islamic clerics have been apprehended and are currently being held at the Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department on suspicion of beheading a man in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
According to The PUNCH’s investigation, the victim, who was working for one of the alleged killers, was enticed to a bush in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area, where he was allegedly murdered. The suspects reportedly promised him a job as a ruse to lure him to the location, and it was there that his head was severed. The suspects were later captured in Apete, Ido Local Government Area.
The incident has left many residents in shock. A resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared her dismay, saying, “It was so heartbreaking. One of the alleged murderers was a well-known cleric recognized by his distinctive turban within the Islamic community of Alapata.”
A credible police source confirmed the incident to a PUNCH correspondent and disclosed that the alleged perpetrators were landlords within his jurisdiction, although the gruesome act took place in Moniya. The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for further investigation.
