Three Rail Vandals Apprehended With Over 147 Pieces of Pandrol Clips in Ibadan

The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has announced the arrest of five suspected vandals, who have been looting and damaging rail tracks across the southwest.

The suspects who were arrested by private security operatives engaged by the construction company, were arrested with over 200 pieces of Pandrol clips.

Pandrol clips are elastic fasteners attached to the base plate so the rail cannot move vertically or horizontally with respect to the base plate.

Two of the suspects were arrested with about 75 pieces of Pandrol clips in the Odediran area of Ogun state, while the other three were apprehended with over 147 pieces in Ologuneru, Oyo state.

A source within the company said the construction giant had lost more than 30,000 pieces of Pandrol clips since the construction of the new rail project that passes the area began.

Meanwhile, CECC’s District Manager (West), Mrs. Angelique Ikwuka confirmed the arrest of the suspected robbers adding that a commercial motorcycle that was allegedly used by the suspects, was also recovered during the arrest.
